How to achieve ISO certification?

Gap Analysis

All business models revolve around people and processes – two basic ingredients.

We talk to your people, and get to know your processes, existing controls, and your way of business. Design a system that matches ISO international management system requirements while still aligning with your current processes. Enhancing along the way to close any gap(s) between your current system and the international standards. Engaging top management and obtaining their participation to strengthen your management system.

Training

Understanding business processes prior to conducting training improves training effectiveness. Business processes and cases will be used as examples during the training.

Case studies, exercises, and props are used during the training to maintain the level of interest during the training. Class participation and group discussions also aid in the training’s effectiveness.

Certificate of achievement will be awarded to participants

Development and Documentation

Review sessions are conducted with all process owners to acquire in-depth knowledge of current processes, including documented information retained. We document your system in a way that your people can easily understand and maintain. We use Flowcharting for most of the processes we document. Flow-charting your processes quickly surfaces lapses or risks inherent in your processes and allows us to close these gaps before finalizing your process flowcharts.

Implementation

In order for a certification body to assess the level of implementation and compliance, evidence is needed.

The rule of thumb for assessment is to have at least three months of evidence prior to certification. Constant monitoring of implementation is carried out to ensure that project’s progress is on track.

Internal Audit Training

Conducting an internal audit is an ISO requirement.

Training a team of internal auditors ensures that our clients are able to continue conducting internal audits even after the completion of our project. Cases and role play form part of this training to improve its effectiveness.

Internal Audit

Completing a round of internal audit is a mandatory requirement prior to the certification audit.

Internal audit shall be conducted by trained personnel. It can, however, also be conducted by external parties instead. Evidence of internal audit shall be retained as evidence.

Management review

Again, management review is also one of the ISO requirements. It is normally carried out after an internal audit so that the result of the internal audit can be reviewed during management review.

Evidence of management review is audited during the 1st and 2nd stages of the external certification audit.

Third-party certification audit

Two stages of audits are conducted during the external certification audit.

Stage 1 – System Audit

This focuses on the system developed, documented, and implemented. The objective is to verify the system compliance against the system subscribed.

Stage 2 – Compliance Audit

This audit is for the certification body to verify the company’s compliance with the subscribed system. The focus is on gathering and verifying implementation evidence. Gathering and verifying information can be accomplished through interviews, observations, verification of records etc.

Post certification activities

Depending on the results of the certification audit, corrective action(s) need to be identified and carried out for all non-conformity identified.
